Just Us & Peace: Holiday Hookup

The Prelude

The energy from the success of our National Hunger Relief initiative accelerated us into our 1st contracted project as Social Justice League LLC. Our client, Interscope Records, had a small surplus marketing budget in Memphis. Our proposal was to use that surplus to contract our SJL team to partner with their local artist, Co Cash, deliver a Holiday Drive initiative to his hometown, capture the value, and package it into marketable content that would strengthen both the artist & label's brand.

The budget was limited and we had 2 weeks to deliver, but this was the 1st use case to validate our LLC model. Our goal is to broaden our ability to create value, and channel new resources into communities by transforming corporate budgets into social impact investments, then delivering a positive ROI for all involved, especially the areas we serve.

Our Approach

Our focus was to create both COVID-Safe and personally engaging initiatives between our hosts & their communities. We designed a virtual solution where our team created a family registration form online, and worked with our local partners, LITE Memphis, to confirm 200 families and collect their gift wishlists.

On event day, Co Cash & a Black Santa Claus were able to safely deliver a bulk donation of 200 custom packed gift boxes aligned to family size, take photos along the drive-thru route, then ride a convertible sleigh to deliver gifts to the doorsteps of 3 nearby homes.

In addition to the gift boxes, we partnered with 3 LITE Memphis Student Businesses to include their products in the online gift menu shared with each registered family. The families were able to select a gift for each child in their household, which we will then purchased and shipped to their homes directly. We worked with 1 of the students to design custom SJL socks as an option in the gift menu, and to make available for sale on our website.

“LITE Memphis had the pleasure of creating what we hope to be a long lasting partnership with The Social Justice League in December of 2020. Max and Alex are the change agents our country so desperately need during these troubling times. Their tenacity and creativity  is sure to change the way nonprofits render services to their clients.

Max and Alex gave me hope that the unified cry for communities of color to be seen and heard will not be silenced for years to come. We look forward to working closely with SJL to continue to challenge the status quo and fight for equality for all.”
