The Watts Empowerment Center
Give the Gift of a Story
The kids at the Watts Empowerment Center are looking for reading buddies.
Reading books aloud to children stimulates their imagination and expands their understanding of the world. It helps them develop language and listening skills and prepares them to understand the written word. When the rhythm and melody of language become a part of a child's life, learning to read and to love books will be as natural as walking and talking.
Date: Any day Monday - Friday between 9am -12pm.
Where: The Watts Empowerment Center
Opportunity to serve: The Watts Empowerment Center is in serious need of volunteers. Children Mending Hearts is running one of the largest outdoor distance learning hubs in LA, helping kindergarten to 6th-grade students from the Imperial Courts Housing Projects with accessing their virtual classrooms while providing them with internet, iPads, food , support, and activities! We are in need of about 3 more volunteers per day. If you are interested please email ielaf@inspiredbyielaf.com or call (714) 345-0969.
